Today there was a massive turnout at Pedal on Parliament Glasgow to show support for investment in a safe cycling environment for all to use.
We were excited to see over a thousand people of all ages and abilities gather at Glasgow Green before riding to George Square. This was a rare occasion where people, particularly children, enjoyed cycling on traffic free roads – if only we could feel this safe everyday!
There were politicians from all parties, including the SNP transport minister who stated the importance of protected infrastructure – like the Bears Way.
Today demonstrated that anyone and everyone can cycle when the conditions are right. And today showed there really is a demand for a safe cycling environment. The completed Bears Way will give that safe space by finally allowing children the freedom the previous generations enjoyed.
